Henry Gold, Deputy Superintendent for Ferndale Schools, has been with the district for 38 years. Mr. Gold grew up in the area, attending Berkley Schools. He began his education career teaching Government and Economics at Ferndale High School. After teaching for 19 years, Mr. Gold became Assistant Principal at Ferndale High School, and received the Michigan Assistant Principal of the Year award in 1999, presented by the Michigan Association of Secondary School Principals. In 2002, Mr. Gold moved to the position of Assistant Superintendent and has since been appointed Deputy Superintendent.

Mr. Gold, who also has a law degree, has broad responsibilities for the Ferndale Schools. He is in charge of contract negotiations, contract maintenance, litigation, staff employment recommendation, employee evaluations, employee discipline, grievances/arbitrations, parent and employee concerns, student discipline, policy development, operations, human resources, payroll and benefits.

Mr. Gold is also a member of the Board Staff Relations Committee and the Board Policy Committee.
