As Superintendent, Meier is the Chief Executive Officer of the School District. He defines and recommends administrative positions required to implement the educational system and program of learning established by the Board of Education. Superintendent Meier is responsible for and defines operational requirements, to ensure the smooth functioning of the District. Meier monitors the effectiveness of the District organizational plan.
Meier's career in education spans more than 30 years, during which he taught fifth grade, coached high school football, worked as a middle school principal, and since 1981, he has served four school districts as Superintendent.
Meier is a graduate of the University of Toledo in Ohio where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and a Master's Degree in Educational Administration. His post-masters work was completed in Educational Administration at the University of Akron in Ohio.
In addition to his career in education, Meier has served as an adjunct professor in the Department of Education at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, and guest lecturer at Oakland University. He has also been active in civic affairs, as well as the recipient of various awards, including nominations for the National Community Education Association's Community-Wide Leadership Award, and the Kettering Foundation Institute for Development of Education Academy of Fellows.
Meier and his wife, Karla, who reside in Pleasant Ridge, MI, have three children and two grandchildren. Kelcey is married and resides in Seattle, Washington with her family. Andrew is practicing law in Ohio. Jonathan is a graduate of Ferndale High School, and attends Michigan State University.
