January 2008 | The Ferndale High School Wind Ensemble performed at the Michigan Music Conference in January 2008 in Grand Rapids! This event is an annual collaborative In-Service conference for all music educators in the State (see www.michiganmusicconference.org). Congrats to our outstanding musicians! Four-Peat 2007! The Golden Eagle Marching Band won their fourth State Championship in a row - sweeping all the awards for the Flight 3 Competition - and completing an undefeated season. Congratulations!

Roosevelt Primary School received a 2007 National Schools of Character Promising Practices Award! The Character Education Partnership selected Roosevelt's practice, "Brain Smart Start" to serve as a model for others to replicate and integrate into their character education initiatives. Roosevelt Principal Dina Krause developed and guided the implementation of the Brain Smart Start which also received a 2007 Education Excellence Award from the Michigan Association of School Boards (MASB).  Krause has been invited to the Character Education Partnership National Forum on Character Education in November in Washington, DC, to accept the award, and make a presentation. Roosevelt's Brain Smart Start will also be featured on CEP's website, www.character.org, and in the 2007 National Schools of Character publication.

Roosevelt Primary School is a winner of the 2007 Education Excellence Award presented by the Michigan Association of School Boards (MASB).
