At the beginning, students are offered various opportunities to explore today’s leading automotive career pathways through in-depth research projects under the theme, “How does my car get into my garage?” Teachers guide students toward understanding the many opportunities in each career pathway. Student projects focus on understanding the industry from three angles: First - How automotive companies develop new cars. Second - How manufacturing plants develop and change according to industry demands.
Third - How marketing strategies and branding are developed and products sold through dealerships.
Students experience the realities of daily work in a career pathway they chose in Step One by studying and working on project-driven assignments half of each school day at an Industry Partner site.
To demonstrate their academic and professional mastery developed through their studies at University High School, seniors select an internship at an automotive industry-related site and present their Senior Mastery Project at the end of the school year.
