UHS Three Step Process

9th & 10th Grades – Explore Career Pathways

At the beginning, UHS freshmen and sophomores focus on developing their core academic skills while being offered various opportunities to explore career pathways that may inspire them to become leaders and innovators in the professional careers of the future. Teachers guide students toward understanding the many opportunities in each career pathway.

11th & 12th Grades – Industry-Based Practicum

Students experience the realities of daily work in the career pathway of their choice by studying and working on project-driven assignments. Part of each school week is spent on campus at Lawrence Tech or at an industry partner site.

12th Grade – Senior Mastery Project

To demonstrate their academic and professional mastery developed through their studies at University High School, seniors select an internship at an industry partner site and present their Senior Mastery Project at the end of the school year, such as engineering and physics presentations to the CEO of Arvin-Meritor. Senior year also gives students opportunities to prepare for their transition to college with on-campus experiences at Lawrence Tech.
