April 11th - Community Surveys

Ferndale Family,

Last week the Ferndale Schools Board of Education approved the selection of Ray and Associates to assist us with the search for our next Superintendent. The selection of the Superintendent is the most important duty of a School Board and with the help of Ray and Associates we will perform a comprehensive and vigorous search for our next leader.

Due to the timing of our vacancy we have adopted an aggressive timeline for this search with the plan of having our new Superintendent begin in early July. To assist us in identifying the attributes the community feels are most crucial in our next leader we are seeking your input.

Ray and Associates, who is facilitating the search process with the Board of Education, is now seeking community input to help develop a profile that will guide them in their process to identify and select highly qualified candidates. The community will have multiple opportunities to provide their input as Ray and Associates builds this profile. The first opportunity for input is by taking a moment to complete the survey listed below.

Community Survey (English)

Community Survey (Arabic)

A series of community meetings will also be held on May 3rd and 4th to allow students, staff, parents, and community members a chance to share their thoughts in-person or virtually. More information on the times and locations of these meetings will be shared in the coming weeks.

After Ray and Associates gathers insight from the community and staff, we will hold a Board of Education workshop at 7:30pm on May 9th in the Nest Media Center at Ferndale High School. At this workshop, we will review the feedback provided by the community, develop the final selection criteria, and begin planning for the interview process. On May 10th the final selection criteria will be added to the job posting with a deadline of May 18th to apply.

The Board will next meet at 9am on June 4th in the Nest Media Center at Ferndale High School with Ray and Associates to determine the candidates to interview, and continue our preparation for that process. On June 10th and 11th in the Nest Media Center at Ferndale High School, we will be conducting our initial interviews and selecting the candidates for the next round.

The final round of interviews will consist of a visit to the district by the finalists on June 14th. The final formal interview before the Board of Education will take place on June 15th.

As you can see, this will be a lengthy and in depth process over the next few months. Please note that all Board of Education meetings for this process are open to the public, and we encourage our community to join us.

To keep the community as informed as possible we will be posting any updated information on this process on our website www.ferndaleschools.org, our Facebook page, and in the district eBlast. If you have any questions regarding our superintendent search please contact Mr. Bill Good our Director of Communications and Pupil Services at william.good@ferndaleschools.org.

On behalf of the Board of Education, I want to thank you for assisting us in this process. Together we will find the next leader of Ferndale Schools.

Thank you,

Sandra Dukhie
President
Ferndale Schools Board of Education

Previous Updates

A special Committee of the Whole Board of Education Meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 5th (FHS, Media Center).  At this meeting the Board of Education will interview firms to assist in the search for our next superintendent.

The Board of Education will interview:
