Tri-County Educational Center Gets a Makeover
The Grant building, current home to the Tri-County Educational Center, was updated with a new boiler system, high-efficiency HVAC, and a roof improvement this summer. The interior also saw improvements, with new electrical, lighting, and flooring installed throughout.

Students from TCEC traveled to Flint to visit the Sloan Museum to explore the Real Bodies Exhibit. This exhibit provided students the opportunity to get a close understanding of the human body and its systems with displays made from real human specimens respectfully preserved. Students explored muscle, skeletal, respiratory, nervous, and circulatory systems just to name a few. Being able to walk around specimens and see them in a different perspectives provides a more complete understanding than viewing photos or illustrations in a textbook or online. Students then took time to go through the Sloan’s History gallery and explored Flint’s history. The final exploration of the Sloan Museum took students into the Discovery Hall, which focused on various science concepts with interactive displays to explore physical and chemical science concepts. TCEC students participating in their Thanksgiving advisory classroom door decorating contest!
Students from FHS, UHS, and TCEC attended the Southeast MiCareer Quest event last Tuesday held annually at Suburban Showplace in Novi. Employers and training institutions from around Michigan provided students with hands on experiences in four career quadrants including Advanced Manufacturing, Healthcare, Construction and Information Technology. Students tried out new technology, asked questions and participated in computerized and VR simulations. Students learned about possible career pathways and opportunities in their areas of interest.
The Michigan State Police partnered with TCEC to nominate 5 TCEC families to receive a Thanksgiving meal, generously donated by Kroger. Families came to TCEC to receive their meals on Friday, November 17th. It was a great opportunity to build connections within our community while providing seasonal blessings to TCEC families.
