Student Athletes Sign to Compete at Collegiate Level

Five Ferndale Schools student athletes signed letters of intent to compete on collegiate athletics team this year:
- Nicole De La Mora, FHS to Indiana Institute of Technology - Women's Soccer
- Jayden Hardiman, FHS to Mid-Michigan College - Men's Basketball
- Christopher Williams, FHS to Cleary University - Men's Basketball
- Angel Harris, UHS to Wayne County Community College - Women's Basketball
- Nave'yah Knott, UHS to Wayne County Community College - Women's Basketball

The Ferndale High Lady Eagles dream team has qualified states again, in team and individual events.
- In the 100m Dash Tyra Thompson qualified for the state meet with a season & personal best of 12.90 placing 2nd to automatically qualify.
- In the 200m Dash Najah Williams qualified for the state meet with a season & personal best as well coming in at 26.63 moving her within 1 second of the school record.
- Najah Williams also qualified for the state meet in the 400m dash for the second time with a seasons best of 1:00.43 placing 1st defending her regional title from last year.

finished 2nd with a blazing time of 1:49.67, dropping a full 3 seconds and placing them in the top 25 in the state. This automatically qualifies them for State Competition, for a 2nd straight year.

On Wednesday FHS science teacher Ryan Dunlap took biology students to Ferndale's Garbutt Park to be a part of a tree planting event. With the aid of Ferndale's Department of Public Works, the students learned about the benefits of urban trees and learned the tree planting process. The students then dug in–literally–as they created large holes and planted 10 tulip trees. The students enjoyed learning to use new tools and taking an active role in the beautification of the city.
The FIRST Robotics season has wrapped up, and all of our students had an amazing year. Two teams featured Ferndale Schools students this year, and BOTH were invited to the World Championship in Houston, Texas and enjoyed the many STEM education opportunities in Houston.
