This past weekend, the Student Enterprise Theatre presented three great performances of Puffs with wonderfully receptive audiences. Several audience members commented on how much they liked the play itself for it's humourous tone and how impressed they were with the talent in the cast. Highlights of the cast were several FMS students taking on large roles, including Zoe Frappier, Zoe Erskine, Lauren McMiller, Malia Ajonuma, Lucie Bisha, Maisy Russell, Lu Kaiser and Piper Stoll. The lights and sound design by Seth Amadei were also very well received.
If you were unable to catch Puffs, save the date for the spring musical, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Performance dates will be March 9–17, 2024. Auditions will be held December 13 and 14 and are open to all FHS and FMS students.
Join us in celebrating the triumph of our recent event, "Parents Painting With a Purpose," where families bonded over creativity and dialogue. This engaging session wasn't just about painting; it was a gateway for parents to delve into the challenges faced by middle school students and explore solutions together. Through collaborative artwork and insightful conversations, parents gained a deeper understanding of their children's world while fostering stronger connections. It was a remarkable opportunity for families to unite, learn, and grow together, bridging the gap between generations with shared experiences and mutual understanding.
This event was developed by: Lacetia Walker of FMS and Jessie Wallace of Ferndale Youth Assistance Program. Mrs. Walker said, “We are so thankful for the financial support of the Ferndale Youth Assistance Board, FMS and Communities in Schools in this endeavor. A special thank you goes out to the staff that took time out of their busy evening to support this event as well. Stay tuned, and look for more events coming your way!”
Three student musicians from the FHS Orchestra attended the honor orchestra program at Eastern Michigan University on Friday, November 10th. Congratulations to Chantal Foreman, Audry Montgomery, and Kieran Venugopal on your well-earned opportunity. View their performance on YouTube.
The students arrived early on the EMU campus and spent the day rehearsing with EMU faculty under the direction of Dr. Chad Hutchinson. In the evening, the orchestra performed on stage in Pease Auditorium. This is a wonderful opportunity for the students to experience music education with different instructors, surrounded by peers from other schools in the area. Orch Support, our community booster program, has been able to make honors orchestra opportunities more accessible to all orchestra students by covering participation costs for the 2023-24 school year!

Puffs is a parody of the Harry Potter book series by J. K. Rowling, but from the perspective of the "Puffs". For seven years a certain boy wizard went to a certain Wizard School and conquered evil. This, however, is not his story. This is the story of the Puffs... who just happened to be there too. A tale for anyone who has never been destined to save the world.
