Story courtesy of Pathway X Events:
October is Manufacturing Month - a month to celebrate modern manufacturing packed with open houses, programs, and outreach meant to inspire the next generation of workers in this high demand industry. Pathway X Events and Ferndale Public Schools brought this home to over 160 8th and 9th grade students on October 9th with a field trip showcasing the many types of manufacturing right in their own neighborhood. The students spent the morning in small groups, traveling by foot to local manufacturing business, connecting with professionals in seven career path categories, and engaging in hands-on learning at every stop. Twenty-five upperclassmen from Ferndale High School spent the morning as peer-mentors in the groups and engaging the 8th & 9th graders at the activity stations.

These are the goals of the Building Healthy Communities: Engaging Middle Schools through Project Healthy Schools program which is entering its third year at Ferndale Middle School.
Building Healthy Communities: Engaging Middle Schools through Project Healthy Schools is supported within Ferndale Schools by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and the University of Michigan.
Goals of the Project Healthy Schools program are for students to:
