Students Ages 34 months-5 years • Must be potty trained to attend

June 27 - August 11 (closed July 4-8)

Drop off your children for a camp-like experience filled with educational fun. Each week features a different theme for ‘campers’ to experience new avenues to learn, explore and play.

Children will receive a healthy snack each day, but children must provide their own lunches. The day will consist of outdoor exploring, teacher read-alouds, learning centers, nap/rest time, and child-initiated play.


Camp Cost

$50 per day

Registration Fee: $35

Elementary K-8

FPS is excited to offer a robust summer school program and adventure camps during the summer of 2022! Our programming will offer our current K-8 students opportunities to grow and expand their academic and social-emotional skills in our summer school classrooms while having fun with their teachers and friends. We will offer both in-person and virtual experiences to meet the needs of all of our families. 

Families may register for summer school and camp sessions. 
Registration window is April 4th-April 18th. 

A link for the registration form will be sent on April 4th via email. Paper registration forms will be available in the main offices of Lower, FUEL and FMS. 

All summer school is offered at NO COST to our families!

Summer School — June 27th–July 21st

(NO Sessions on July 4th & 5th)

IN-Person Learning

Monday - Thursday (No Friday)

:00 am–3:00 PM
  • Certified teachers will use FPS curriculum resources
  • Class sizes will be smaller than normal 
  • Any board approved COVID-19 safety protocols will be adhered to
  • Flexible grouping to meet the needs of all students
  • Breakfast and lunch provided
  • Bus transportation available
  • Current K-4 students will attend at Ferndale Lower Elementary
  • Current 5-8 students will attend at Ferndale Middle School
  • Bus transportation is available for eligible students

Virtual Learning

Monday - Thursday (No Friday)

:00 am–11:30 PM
  • Certified teachers will use FPS curriculum resources
  • Multi-age and flexible grouping classrooms
  • Synchronous instruction using Google Meet
  • Take-home materials provided 
  • Current K-8 students will attend online with synchronous instruction

Adventure Camp — July 25th–August 4th

Monday - Thursday (No Friday)

  • Adventure Camp will consist of fun and educational experiences for our current K-8 FPS students 
  • Certified teachers will use Adventure Camp curriculum resources
  • Multi-age and flexible groupings will be utilized 
  • Off-site experiences (field-trips) included
  • Daily breakfast and lunch available
  • Bus transportation is available for eligible students

All summer school and camp programming is offered at NO COST to our families!

Is it possible to register for less than 4 days a week or for individual weeks?

No, FPS is offering one 4-week Summer School session and one 2-Week Adventure Camp session.  It is important that students attend continuous sessions in order to maintain continuity of learning.  

Is it possible to register for camp but not summer school?

No, registration options include summer school only, or summer school plus camp

My child has allergies.  How will this be handled?

We continue to use our regular food service provider (Chartwells) for our summer program. If your child has specific needs, please contact the Secondary Summer School Coordinator. 

I am planning to be out of town for a portion of the program.  What should I do?

Discuss your plans with your child’s summer school principal and your child’s summer school teacher.

Will virtual students have access to a Chromebook?

Yes, FPS will provide a Chromebook for virtual students who do not have access.

5th–6th Grade Bridge

5th grade is a very important year in middle school as it sets the stage for students’ success. Our 5th Grade Bridge Program is designed to help students successfully make the leap from elementary to middle school. Our 5th Grade Bridge Program will help students:

  • Prepare for the rigors of middle school

  • Understand the differences between elementary school and middle school

  • Build executive skills

  • Learn how to prioritize

  • Academic skill building

  • Build relationships with other students and staff

Our staff is committed to helping our 5th grade students begin middle school with all the skills they need!

Registration will open in May. Families will be contacted with additional information at this time.

5th Grade Bridge Schedule

Safety Protocols

To protect students, teachers, staff, and our community, we will be enforcing the following safety protocols.

  • Smaller in-person class sizes

  • Students will remain in a cohort class

  • Masks will be worn by students and staff except for when eating

  • Social distancing will be supported when possible

  • Classrooms and buses will be sanitized

  • Students will participate in hand-washing and hand-sanitization protocols

  • Lessons and lunches will occur outside when possible

  • A Covid Health Safety Room will separate any students with symptoms

  • Seating charts will be utilized to facilitate contact tracing if necessary

High School Summer Programs

High School Summer School programming is available to students who need additional support, based on a range of student performance data. Families will be contacted individually later in the school year to discuss student needs.


IMPORTANT NOTE:

Students and Families will be contacted about Summer Programs if a need is identified. Student performance and growth metrics are still be collected and assessed. More information will become available in the coming weeks.


 

8th–9th Grade Bridge

9th grade is a very important year in high school as it sets the stage for students’ success. Our Virtual 8th Grade Bridge Program is designed to help students successfully make the leap from middle to high school. Our 8th Grade Bridge Program will help students:

  • Prepare for the rigors of high school

  • Understand the differences between middle school and high school

  • Understand the importance of a high school transcript

  • Build executive skills

  • Learn how to prioritize

  • Academic skill building

  • Build relationships with other students and staff
