FERNDALE, Mich. — The Ferndale High School Marching Band won the Class A championship at the Bands of America Northwest Ohio Regional Championship in Toledo, Ohio, on Oct. 3 and earned a spot in the evening finals competition.
The band also swept the Class A caption awards in preliminary competition, earning Outstanding Music Performance, Outstanding Visual Performance and Outstanding General Effect. Ferndale finished 11th overall in prelims with a score of 70.050, securing its place in finals.
At Bands of America regionals, every band competes head-to-head in prelims regardless of school size, and the top scorers advance to compete again in finals. Ferndale shared the field with more than a dozen bands from schools with thousands more students, the largest of which enrolls 6,200.
Jamison also serves as high school honors band chair for Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association District 4.
Community members can see the band at the Eagles' final home football game of the season Oct. 16 at Ferndale High School. The band will compete next at Plymouth-Canton Educational Park on Oct. 24.
