fuel farmers market

On September 30, Ferndale Upper Elementary School hosted its first-ever Farmers Market! 3rd-5th grade students shopped for Michigan produce with "veggie bucks," learned about composting (with worms!), visited with a local beekeeper, tasted several varieties of Michigan apples (honeycrisp and gala were the most popular), planted seedlings, and enjoyed fresh bicycle-powered smoothies. FUEL staff say this is their favorite event of all time!

Huge thanks to our Food Service Director, Paige Fleming, for planning the event in partnership with Chartwells K12 and several community partners including Double Up Food Bucks Michigan.

Thank you to the parent volunteers who participated!!
