turkeys visit ferndale lower elementary

On November 24, Upland Hills Farm visited Ferndale Lower Elementary School, arriving with two special visitors: Turkeys! Only these birds were for educational purposes: to teach kindergarteners all about them firsthand from Farmer Sam and Farmer Andy. Did you know that a boy turkey is called a Gobbler? And, a baby turkey is called a Poult? The students also learned that turkeys are omnivores, and eat plants and meat! And, if they are upset, their heads change colors: they can actually turn red, white or blue, depending on how they feel!
