Speakers and art celebrate Black Excellence at UHS

On March 18, UHS hosted their 7th annual Black Excellence Celebration, including exhibits, music, poetry, dance, trivia, caribbean & soul food, with special Guest Speaker: Class of 2022 UHS Alumni Jazlyn Coles. The door decorating contest winner went to Mr. Boland’s class with special thanks to Layla Thomas for her idea and concept.

Guest speaker Ms. Coles teaches Forensics at Central Michigan University and is working towards her Masters Degree. Her speech included inspiring advice for students including: be resourceful, be adaptable, protect your focus, obstacles are opportunities, own your ideas, and grow as you go in life. Special thanks to Ms. Farr, Ms. Rodgers, and the UHS Student Council for their help in making this event such a success.
