FERNDALE, Mich. – FERNDALE, Mich. – Ferndale Public Schools has appointed Fred George as assistant principal of Ferndale Upper Elementary for the 2026-27 school year.
George brings more than 30 years of service to Ferndale Public Schools, where he has dedicated his entire educational career to serving students, families and the community. Throughout his tenure, he has built lasting relationships with multiple generations of Ferndale and Royal Oak Township families while contributing both inside and outside the classroom.
"I am honored to continue serving the district that has been my professional home for more than 30 years," George said. "Ferndale has always been a special place because of its students, families and dedicated staff. I look forward to working alongside Mrs. Jeffrey and the entire Ferndale Upper Elementary team as we continue creating opportunities for every student to learn, grow and thrive."
George earned a bachelor's degree in special education and a master's degree in sociology from Central Michigan University. He later earned an educational specialist degree from Oakland University.
Throughout his career, George has served students both in and beyond the classroom. In addition to his work as an educator, he has coached track and field, cross-country and football, mentoring generations of student-athletes while building strong relationships with students and families across the district.

George will serve alongside Principal Katharine Jeffries to support student achievement, strengthen school culture and foster meaningful partnerships with families and staff.
His appointment proves the district's commitment to developing leaders who understand the Ferndale community and are dedicated to helping every student succeed.
