Ferndale Elementary Schools Welcome Families to Curriculum Nights September 9 and 10

FERNDALE, Mich. — Ferndale Lower Elementary School and Ferndale Upper Elementary School (FUEL) invite families to learn about the 2026–2027 school year, meet teachers, and explore their students’ classrooms during Curriculum Night. Both events run from 6–7:30 p.m.

Ferndale Lower Elementary: Wednesday, September 9

Families are invited to an evening of classroom presentations, school tours and information tables. Building doors open at 5:45 p.m., and classroom doors open at 6 p.m.

Teachers will offer grade-level presentations on the following schedule:

  • 6–6:30 p.m.: First grade, Blue Neighborhood

  • 6:30–7 p.m.: Kindergarten, Green Neighborhood

  • 7–7:30 p.m.: Second grade, Orange Neighborhood

Principal Ryan Smith will meet with kindergarten families in the cafeteria from 6:05–6:30 p.m. Resource room and essentials teachers will also be available in their classrooms and hallways.

Schoolwide information tables will be open from 6–7:30 p.m., featuring the Ferndale Library, Chartwells Food Service and PTA. Families may also take self-guided tours.

Ferndale Upper Elementary: Thursday, September 10

FUEL, located on Rosewood Street in Oak Park, will host an open house featuring student-led tours, classroom visits and opportunities to connect with teachers and community partners.

The evening begins with a welcome and presentation from Principal Katharine Jeffrey in the gym from 6–6:20 p.m., especially helpful for new students and third-grade families.

From 6:30–7:30 p.m., families can visit classrooms and meet essential teachers, explore the new STEAM Lab, and meet community partners. Students are encouraged to attend and lead their families through the building, sharing their day-to-day school experience.

Teachers will send slides or handouts ahead of the event. Families are encouraged to review those materials and bring questions.

Partner tables in the main hallways will include the PTA, Elementary Connections Groups, Communities In Schools and the Ferndale Library, where families can sign up for a library card.
