Oakland County program awards up to $1,000 to young people ages 8-18 pursuing entrepreneurial, educational, community or extracurricular projects

FERNDALE, Mich. — Ferndale Public Schools is inviting students and families to learn about the Acorn2Oak Grants program, a Leadership Oakland and Oakland County initiative that awards funding to young people with a project or dream worth chasing. The next application review round closes Monday, September 15, and the district encourages any eligible student to apply before the deadline.

“We are always looking for ways to help our students reach beyond the classroom, and Acorn2Oak is a wonderful opportunity for them to do just that," said Camille Hibbler, superintendent of Ferndale Public Schools. "Whether a student wants to launch a business idea, tackle a community project or pursue an academic passion, this grant can help turn that vision into reality. I encourage our families to take a close look before the September 15 deadline."

Acorn2Oak grants of up to $1,000 are open to Oakland County residents ages 8 to 18 and can support a wide range of pursuits, including:

  • Business and Entrepreneurial Development — for aspiring young entrepreneurs

  • Community Impact — for youth making a difference in their communities

  • Educational Achievement — for academic programs, competitions or training

  • Extracurricular Investment — for activities that align with personal growth

Grant funds must go toward project-specific expenses and cannot be used for tuition or other ongoing costs. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year, with the next review deadline set for September 15.

Students and families can learn more, view eligibility details and apply online at acorn2oakgrant.com/application. Questions about the program can be directed to Acorn2Oak at info@acorn2oakgrant.com.
