Building Eagle pride and raising awareness

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The clinic is timed to the Pink Out game to bring more attention to the cause, and participants' shirts are designed for the Pink Out.

The clinic also builds the future of Ferndale cheer. Elementary and middle school students meet the coaches, train with high school athletes and get a first taste of a program that includes varsity, JV and competitive cheer. The program is also working to build a middle school team.

“We want our younger students to see themselves in this program and have something to look forward to when they get to middle and high school," said Ciera Murden, FHS varsity assistant cheer coach and JV head coach. "And the Pink Out game is the perfect time to come together as a community for breast cancer awareness."

Ferndale Cheerleading, the program's booster club, collects registration fees.
